After we had put our side of the story on wind power generation at Ascog to The Buteman it was inevitable that a further series of letters would follow.
In this week’s edition Mr Rhod Lofting, Deputy Lord Lieutenant (and largely resident) of Surrey, caught our eye with his balanced prose.

As one of the Queen’s representatives for Surrey his views appear to clash with those of the Crown Estate, which has let out lots of sea areas for offshore wind development and supports sensible onshore wind energy schemes in Wales judging by its submissions to the Welsh Government.
Perhaps Rhod is out of tune with the Royal Prerogative?
There was also communication from George and Christine Morrison whose recently built home faces Ascog Hill, potential site for the turbines, and also looks out directly at the Bute water and sewage treatment plants and on to the 400ft chimney in the distance at Inverkip on the mainland.
If wind energy gets off the ground, and we end up able to invest in other developments such as a micro-brewery, our first ale will be called Megawatt Temptation in honour of Mr Lofting.
Let’s hope we can all raise our glasses to ‘a pint of Temptation’ shortly!
